Lake Livingston Real Estate
Lake Livingston is the second-largest lake in Texas and the heart of life in our corner of East Texas. The Trinity River Authority built it on the Trinity River. It covers approx. 83,000 surface acres and has more than approx. 450 miles of shoreline across Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity and Walker counties. With that much shoreline, there's room for many kinds of lake living: quiet coves, open-water views, wooded lots and busy marina neighborhoods.
The lake is known for fishing. Texas Parks and Wildlife calls it a notable white bass fishery, with a strong catfish fishery led by blue catfish. Striped bass are caught around the U.S. 190 bridge, and largemouth are found in the bays and creeks from the Kickapoo area north. Boaters, skiers and kayakers have plenty of room too. Lake Livingston State Park near Livingston offers boat ramps, a lighted fishing pier, swimming and trails, and marinas and RV resorts line the shore around Onalaska, Livingston, Coldspring and Point Blank.
Getting here is easy. Lake Livingston State Park is approx. 75 miles north of Houston. Around the lake, buyers can look in Livingston, Onalaska, Coldspring, Point Blank and other lake communities. Depending on which shore you choose, schools include Livingston ISD, Onalaska ISD, Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD and others, so check the district for each address.
Lakefront buying has its own details. The Trinity River Authority owns the lake and regulates shoreline improvements like docks and bulkheads with permits. Flood zones, water depth and deeded access can also vary from one lot to the next. I'll help you sort through all of it before you buy.
Whether you want a full-time waterfront home, a weekend cabin or a lot to build on, let's find your place on the lake.
