Living in Corrigan, Texas

Corrigan sits in north Polk County where U.S. 59 meets U.S. 287. It's a hard-working timber town surrounded by pine forest, pasture and open country. In 2024 the State of Texas officially named Corrigan the "Timber Products Capital of Texas," a nod to more than a century of sawmills, plywood and forestry.

The town grew up around the railroad. The Houston, East and West Texas Railway came through in 1881, and Corrigan was named for Pat Corrigan, the conductor of the first train. Lumber companies followed the rails and the big pine forests. Today Georgia-Pacific's Corrigan Plywood mill, along with its Camden Plywood and Camden Lumber operations nearby, still makes timber a big part of local life.

For land buyers, that heritage means opportunity. The Corrigan area has larger acreage tracts, timberland, pasture and wooded hunting property that would be hard to find closer to the city. Many buyers come here looking for a place to hunt deer, run a few cattle, grow timber as an investment or build a quiet home in the country. Some tracts come with ponds, creeks, older homes or barns, and some are raw land ready for your plans. Every tract is different, so it pays to walk it.

Corrigan-Camden ISD serves the area. Lufkin is approx. 26 miles north on U.S. 59 for shopping, medical care and jobs, and Livingston is a short drive south. Houston is approx. 100 miles away, which keeps Corrigan quiet and land prices in reach for many buyers.

If you're looking for room to roam, Corrigan is worth a look. I'd be glad to walk the land with you.
